Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Central South Electric Power Design Institute (CSEPDI) (Wuhan, Hubei), a regional subsidiary of China Power Engineering Consultancy Corporation (CPECC) (Beijing), recently received the notice of bid award from Huaneng Gansu Energy Development Company Limited (Lanzhou, Gansu) and was selected as the winner for the engineering contract for the 1,320-megawatt (MW) Huaneng Zhengning Power Plant Phase I grassroot project.
The Huaneng Zhengning Power Plant is located in Zhuozitou Village, Zhoujia Xiang, Zhengning County, in Qingyang City of northwest China's Gansu province. According to the feasibility study, the power plant plans to use coal shipped to the site via conveyor belt from the nearby Hetaoyu Coal Mine, with cooling water provided through the draining of the mine in the Zhengning Mining Zone. In the initial stage, the power plant will be furnished with two 660-MW, ultra-supercritical, air-cooling, coal-fired units, together with a limestone-plaster wet process for flue gas desulfurization, with a design efficiency of no less than 96%; an electrostatic dust remover, with a designed dust-removing efficiency no less than 99.64%; and low-NOx burner, plus selective catalyst reduction (SCR) process, with a denitration efficiency of 80%. The project will be connected to the state grid of China via two 750-kilovolt (kV) transmission lines.
The project received approval from the National Energy Administration (NEA) to kick off pre-stage preparation in January 2013. It's expected that the project will receive final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) this year. According to the schedule, construction of the project will kick off later this year, and both units will begin operations in 2015. Upon completion, the project will secure the power supply in Qingyang City and play an important role in economically strengthening the local coal resources, as well as in promoting the local economic development and social stability.
