Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Tianjin Electric Power Construction Company Limited (TEPC) (Tianjin) put the No. 2 combustion turbine (CT) of Yinchuan Eastern Cogeneration Power Project into full-load operation on October 10, 2013. This paves a firm foundation for the 168-hour, continuous, full-load trial operation for the unit later this month, the TEPC announced on October 14.

The Yinchuan Eastern Cogeneration Power Project is located at the east of Yinchuan, the capital city of northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region. The power plant is owned by Hanas Natural Gas Thermal Power Company Limited (Yinchuan, Ningxia), a subsidiary of Ningxia Hanas New Energy Group (Yinchuan, Ningxia). North China Power Engineering Company Limited (Beijing), a regional subsidiary of China Power Engineering Consultancy Corporation (CPECC) (Beijing), is serving as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the project.

The project will include four 223.2-megawatt (MW), combined-cycle generating units based on the SGT5-2000E(V94.2) combustion turbine, manufactured by Shanghai Electric Corporation, with technology imported from Siemens AG (NYSE:SI). It also includes four heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) and associated equipment to supply heat, cold and electricity to local grid.

Construction of the project initially kicked off in August 2010. In February 2012, construction of the stator for the first unit, No. 2 CT, was completed. In March 2013, the No. 2 CT was connected to the grid the first time. Construction of the remaining three units is progressing smoothly. According to the latest schedule, all four units of the project are expected to begin full operations in the first half of 2014.
